All course add/drop/withdraws are done through the Mount’s Add/Drop form after the web registration period has closed.

Adding courses: Students must be aware that adding courses may impact financial aid, student billing, athletic eligibility, and progress toward graduation. The responsibility for meeting program and degree requirements, as well as being informed of University regulations and procedures, rests with the student.

  • Any student who does not officially add a class will not receive credit or a grade for the coursework.
  • Students are expected to have met the specific course prerequisites (or the equivalent transfer credit) before adding a class with prerequisites located in the course notes.
  • Students wishing to register for courses that require approval from the instructor or program director (e.g., Co-op, Honors, or Service Learning courses), must obtain the necessary authorization from the instructor or program director before registering.
  • The University reserves the right to monitor the waitlist and register students in the order necessary to fulfill graduation requirements.
  • To add a course after classes have begun, students must complete an add form which must include the instructor’s signature. The completed form must be received by the Registrar’s Office, and will be added based on the date the student submitted the form. Late adds may require a signature from the Provost Office.

Dropping courses: Students must be aware that dropping courses may impact financial aid, student billing, athletic eligibility, and progress towards graduation. The responsibility for meeting program and degree requirements, as well as understanding University regulations and procedures, rests with the student.

  • Last day to Web drop a full semester and/or first half of the semester course is the Friday after classes start. After this date, a drop form is required. An advisor’s signature is needed to drop a course.
  • It is recommended that students verify their course schedule after any changes to ensure the accuracy of their schedule and transcript.
  • Students who fail to complete a drop or withdrawal process through the appropriate form will receive a grade of FA (failure due to absence).
  • Dropping a course will remove it from the student’s record and transcript.

It is important to note that tuition refund dates and course drop dates are different. Students should consult with Financial Aid to understand how dropping a course may impact financial aid and billing.

Withdrawing from Courses: Students must be aware that withdrawing from courses may impact financial aid, student billing, athletic eligibility, and progress towards graduation. The responsibility for meeting program and degree requirements, as well as understanding University regulations and procedures, rests with the student.

It is important to note that tuition refund dates and course withdrawal dates are different. Students should consult with Financial Aid to understand how withdrawing from a course may impact financial aid and billing.

  • To withdraw from a course, a course withdraw form must be submitted, signed by both the student and the advisor. Withdrawals are not permitted after the withdrawal window has closed. Instructors will assign grades for courses not dropped or withdrawn. If a change in the effective date of withdrawal is needed, the Provost’s Office signature is required on the form.
  • Withdrawing from a course results in a “W” being recorded on the student’s transcript. Withdrawn course hours count in “attempted” hours in both semester and overall total, but do not count as “earned” hours, and therefore do contribute to the degree. Withdrawn grades do not affect the semester or overall GPA.

Note: A week is defined as Monday through Sunday, 11:59pm. Add/drops/withdraws will be processed based on the date student initiates the request.
